Welcome to the genesis of the universe & the blankets are breathing
horseboys roam the streets in herds to the tank tread creak of snapping hooves
where their breeders have let them out early for the day
veering left and right in unison like wild anchovies
horse headed children keeping the sugarcube vendors in business

knuckles knocking against the room of the heart
ten skeleton bulbs dripping from the ceiling
the light swings and
shadows wander in circles in rooms where the doors are locked

To walk outside you take your life in your hands
and offer it as a sacrifice so that you may get past
get to work, work, get back with the cash grasped in your hand
Sometimes they take a tooth. Sometimes a knee.
Sometimes the take the hair from your nose.

I'm reading the heiroglyphics scrawled on the bathroom wall
my bathroom, where two friends from college locked themselves in the night before
with a fist full of pens and paints
I examine them like my career depends on it
and I am advised always to be leaving my soul.
So spake the ghost and the man gripping his 4 foot wiener.

laughing and bleeding and eating
completing a story that needed completing
